Scioto County Overdose Fatality Review 2019

Portsmouth City Health Department

General Conclusions:

The majority of decedents injected the fatal dose, thus dying very quickly with little time for intervention
The majority of decedents were not alone in the residence, but used alone and were found without vital signs and had no vital signs upon EMS arrival
Bystander naloxone use remains underutilized
The City of Portsmouth is disproportionately affected by overdose and remains the county hotspot
